(93) On the Back of the Aforegoing Deed was thus Written (viz.t) Received the day & year first within mentioned of and from the within named John Brice Junior the sum of five hundred pounds ster Money of Great St.g Brittain it being the consideration money within mentioned 500 0 0 Witnesses I say reced by Tho.s Gassaway Rob.t Davidg Jn.o Brice Be it remembered that on the 29.th Day of May in the Year of our Lord Christ one Thousand Seven hundred and sixty six before me the Subscriber one of the Justices of the provincial court of Maryland personally appeared the within named John Brice and Sarah his wife and acknowledged the within indenture as their & each of their act & acts deed and deeds and the Lands & premises within mentioned to be the right & Estate of the within Named John Brice Junior his heirs and assigns according to the true intent & meaning of the Same deed and the Act of Assembly in Such Case made and provided and the said Sarah Brice being by me privately Examined out of the hearing of her said Husband declared that She made her acknowledgement of the Same willingly and freely and without being induced thereto by fears or threats of or Ill usage by her husband or fear of his displeasure Before Geo Steuart Received the 30.th May 1766 of John Brice Jun.r the Sum of Eighteen Shillings and one penny half penny sterling for the use of Lord Baltimore it being the Alienation Fine on the within Lands and by virtue of a commission from Edward Lloyd Esq.r his said Lordships Agent & Receiver General John Davidson Sides Recorded 30.th May 1766 Ex.d This Indenture made the thirtieth day of May in the year of our Lord Christ one Thousand Seven hundred and sixty six Between Thomas Joyce of Ann Arundel County ^in the province of Maryland^ planter the youngest son of Thomas Joyce late of the county aforesaid planter deceased of the one par and Richard Henderson of Prince Georges County merchant of the other part Whereas the said Thomas Joyce deceased by his Testament and last will in writing duly executued proved and recorded in the prerogative office at Annapolis bearing date the 25.th Day of November 1748 amongst other devises therein mentioned did give and devise all his Land called Nicklers Hunting Quarter unto his two youngest Sons their heirs and assigns fo ever and which aforesaid Two youngest mentioned in the said will were named Joseph Joyce and Thomas Joyce which said Thomas Joyce is one of the parts to these presents and by the will of his said Father is intituled to an undivided Moiety or half par of the said Tract of Land Called Nichlar's Hunting Quarter alias Nicholl's Hunting Quarter Now This Indenture witnesseth (that) |
