       On the Back of the aforegoing Mortgage was thus Endorsed Viz.t

       Maryland fs   Bee it Remembered that on the Twenty third Day of
       April Anno Dom Seventeen hundred & Seventy before us the Subscribers
       two of his Lordships Justices of the Peace for Baltimore County
       Personally appeared the within Named Bennett Mathews Party to
       the within Deed and Acknowledged the same to be his Act and
       Deed and the Lands and premises thereby granted to be the Estate and
       Interest of the within Named Amos Garrett and Aquila Hall their
       Exrs Admrs and Assigns according to the True Intent & meaning of
       the within Writing Taken & acknowledged before us the Day and
       Year aforesaid                                             Benjamin Rogers

       This Indenture made this twenty fifth Day of April Anno Domini one
       Thousand seven hundred and seventy Between John Gray of Ann Arundel County
       in the Province of Maryland Planter of the one part and Zachariah Gray and
       Ephraim Gray of Baltimore County in the said Province Planters of the other
       part Witnesseth that the said John Gray for the Barring all Estates Tail and
       Remainders over of and in the Lands and Tenements herein after mentioned
       and for and in Consideration of the Sum of five Shillings Sterling to
       him in hand paid by the ^said^ Zachariah Gray and Ephraim Gray their Heirs
       Executors and Administrators and for divers other good Causes and
       Considerations him thereunto moving Hath granted bargained and sold
       and by these Presents he the said John Gray Doth grant bargain and
       sell unto the said Zachariah Gray and Ephraim Gray their Heirs and
       Assigns All that Tract or Parcell of Land called Nashes Rest
       lying and being in Baltimore County and Containing Two hundred
       Acres of Land with the Appurtenances To have and to hold the said
       Tract or Parcel of Land with the Appurtenances to them the said
       Zachariah Gray and Ephraim Gray and their Heirs and Assigns
       to the use and behoofe of them the said Zachariah Gray and
       Ephraim Gray their Heirs and Assigns for ever To the Intent and
       Purpose Nevertheless that the said Zachariah Gray & Ephraim
       Gray may be perfect Tenants of the Freehold and Inheritance of the
       said Land and Premises with the Appurtenances against whom a
       Common Recovery of the said Land and Premises may be had
       suffered and Perfected as of April Term Seventeen hundred and
       Seventy in which said Common Recovery It is hereby agreed that
       Samuel Chase shall be Demandant and the said Zachariah Gray
       and Ephraim Gray Tenants and the said John Gray shall be Vouchee
