686 Ann Arundel County Viz.t On the 26 Day of March Seventeen hundred and seventy the within Named Thomas Dorsey personally appeared before us the Subscribers two of his Lordships Justices of the Peace for the County aforesaid and did acknowledge the within Instrument of Writing to be his Act & Deed and the Land therein granted bargained and sold or Meant mentioned or Intended so to be and Premises with the Appurtenances and every part and parcel thereof to be the Right Property and Estate of the within named William Brown his Heirs and Assigns for ever according to the true Intent and Meaning of the same Writing And according to the Act of Assembly in such Cases made and Provided And at the same time also Came personally before us Elizabeth Dorsey the wife of the same Thomas Dorsey and did Acknowledge that she freely relinquished her Right of Dower to the Land within mentioned to be granted Bargained and Sold and fully consented to the within Instrument of Writing and she being Examined by us privately out of the Hearing of her said Husband did Declare that she made her said Acknowledgment willingly and freely and without being induced thereto by Fears or Threats of or ill Usage by her Husband or fear of his Displeasure Before John Burgess Jun.r Basil Burgess Received of M.r Anthony Steuart the Sum of Seventeen Shillings and four pence Sterling being the Alienation Fine of the within Land for the use of Lord Baltimore by Virtue of a Commission from John Morton Jordan Esq.r his said Lordships Agent and receiver General Jn.o Brice 12½ Sides Recorded the 7.th April 1770 X.d This Indenture made the 2.d April in the Year of our Lord one Thousand seven hundred and Seventy Between Samuel Owings Junior of Baltimore County and Province of Maryland of the one part and John Grous of Frederick County and s.d Province of the other part Witnesseth that the said Samuel Owings Jun.r for and in Consideration of the Sum of Fifty two Pounds ten Shillings to him in hand paid by the said John Grous the receipt of which the s.d Samuel Owings Jun.r doth hereby acknowledge and himself to be therewith fully Satisfied Contented and paid Hath given granted Bargained sold alien'd Enfeoffed and Confirm'd and by these Presents doth give grant Bargain Sell Alien Enfeoffe and Confirm unto him the s.d John Grous his Heirs and Assigns for ever all that part of a Tract or parcel of Land called the Resurvey on Owings Chance lying and being in Frederick County aforesaid which is Contained within the following Metes and Bounds Courses and Distances Viz.t Begining for the part hereby bargain'd and Sold at the end of the Second Line of a Tract of Land call'd Peters Park & Runing thence East one Hundred Perches South one Hundred & thirty perch.s South Eighty two degrees and a half degre West Nine Perches North forty three degrees West Ninety four Perches South Sixty four degrees West Twenty Perches North Twenty two degrees West one Hundred and (twenty) |
