640. Appoint Thomas Hodge of Virginia Merchant and William Russell of Maryland ^Merchant^ jointly and in case of Death the Survivor of them, their & each of their true and Lawfull Attorneys and Attorney giving and by these Presents granting unto their said Attorneys jointly and to the Survivor of them full power & Lawfull Authority for them the said Constituents and each of them in their and each of their Names and behalf To ask Demand and Receive of and from David Ross of Maryland Merchant heretofore Agent or Attorney to the said John Steuart and ^to^ his Partners preceeding the Partnership of John Steuart and Duncan Campbell and afterwards Agent or Attorney to the said John Steuart and Duncan Campbell his Heirs Executors Administrators or whom else it may Concern all such Sum and Sums of Money Goods Wares Merchandize Books, papers, Writings, Bills, Bonds Vouchers and other Effects whatsoever which he they or any of them now have or may hereafter have in his their or any of their Hands Custody or Possession due owing payable or belonging to the said John Steuart or to the said John Steuart and Duncan Campbell for or upon what Account soever nothing Excepted or Reserved And for the Purpose aforesaid to Account and to view State Settle and Adjust all Accounts and the Ballances thereof to receive; Upon Receipts to gibe one or more Acquittances or other Sufficient discharges in due form of Law But in case of Refusal or delay by the said David Ross his Heirs Executors Administrators or whom else it may Concern to make and Render just and true Account payment delivery and Satisfaction in the Premisses, him them and every of them thereunto to compell And for that Purpose in the Name of the said John Steuart only or in the joint Names of the said John Steuart and Duncan Campbell as the case may require to commence one or more Suit or Suits at Law or in Equity and the same to Prosecute to a final Determination Also if need be to Compound Compromise Conclude by Arbitration or otherwise And Generally in the Premisses to do perform Transact and Accomplish all and whatever shall be requisite and Necessary as fully and Effectually to all Intents and Purposes as they the said Constituents might or could do being Personally Present, And they the said Constituents do hereby promise to ratify and confirm all and whatever their said Attorneys jointly or the Survivor of them shall Lawfully do or cause to be done in the Premisses by Virtue of these Presents In Witness whereof they have hereunto severally set their Hands and Seals the Sixteenth day of April One Thousand seven hundred and sixty six Sealed and Delivered Jn.o Steuart (seal) In the Presence of Dun Campbell (seal) Jn.o Kidd |
