(556) Reced on the day and Year within written the Sum of two hundred and twenty five £ pounds Currency in full for the Consideration within Mentioned to be paid me 225 Witnesses Nic Thomas her J Rogers Sarah S Hewitt mark Maryland fs.t Be it remembered that upon the 22.d Day of May Anno Domini one thousand Seven hundred and Sixty nine came before me the Subscriber one of his Lordships Justices of the provincial Court the within named Sarah Hewitt and John Gresham and did severally acknowledge the within Instrument of writing to be their respective Act and Deed to and for the Uses Intents and purposes therein specified and the Lands and Premisses therein Mentioned and every part and parcel thereof to be the Right and Estate of the said John Gresham his Heirs and Assignes for ever according to the true intent and Meaning of the said Deed recorded the 22.d day of May 1769 Dan of S.t Tho.s Jenifer Ex.d This Indenture Quadripartite made this twenty Second Day of May in the Year of our Lord one thousand Seven hundred and Sixty nine Between Nicholas Gassaway 12½ sides of Ann Arundel County in the province of Maryland Gentleman of the first part Thomas Gassaway of the same County Gentleman of the Second part Joseph Mayo of the same County Tanner of the third part and William Steuart Esquire of the City of Annapolis in the same County of the fourth part Whereas for the docking barring and extinguishing all Estates Tail and Reversions and remainders thereupon expectant or depending of and in the Lands and Appurtenances herein after mentioned the said William Steuart as Demandant did heretofore (at the request Cost and Charges of the same Joseph Mayo) prosecute and Sue out of his Lordships High Court of Chancery his said Lordships Writ of Entry Sur disseisin en le post against him the said Joseph May returnable and returned to the provincial Court at Annapolis the third Tuesday of May Instant whereby the said William Steuart did demand against him the said Joseph Mayo all that part of a Tract or parcell of Plantable Land called & known by the name of Selby's Marsh Scituate ^and^ lying in Ann Arundel County aforesaid on the South Side of the South River which by Deed Indented bearing Date on or about the thirteenth Day of August in the year of our Lord Seventeen hundred and sixty eight was conveyed by the said Nicholas Gassaway & Thomas Gassaway to the same Joseph Mayo his Heirs & Assigns & is now in the Actual Possession & Seisin of the s.d Joseph Mayo & lies on the south side of the former Main Road down the Neck Beginning at the Horse Bridge as formerly proved by Robert Saunders and Robert Brown & runs thence South four Degrees West fourteen perches then South forty Seven Degrees & a half West ten perches then South Seventy four degrees & a quarter West [illegible] perches then South nineteen Degrees West five perches then south twelve Degrees East eight perches to the Original East South East Line of Selby's Marsh & with the s.d Line East South East One hundred and eleven perches then North twenty Six Degrees East eleven perches then North fifty nine Degrees East sixteen perches then North fifteen Degrees & three quarters East thirteen perches then North two degrees & a quarter East fourteen perches to the af.d Main Road & with the said road to the af.d Beginning at the Horse Bridge containing Thirty two Acres of Land and also all that other part of a Tract or parcell of plantable Land Originally called Selby's Stop Scituate & being in Ann Arundel County af.d which by the same Deed Indented bearing date on or about the same thirteenth Day of August in the year Seventeen hundred & Sixty eight af.d was Conveyed by the said Nicholas Gassaway & Thomas Gassaway to the af.d Joseph Mayo his Heirs & Assigns & is now in the actual possession & Seisin of the af.d Joseph Mayo & lies on the west side of the Head of a Cove called the Spring Cove & is contiguous & adjoining to the above Mentioned land called Selby's Marsh Beginning at the run of the Branch of the Head of the Spring Cove where the original West by South Line of Selbys stop crosses the same & running with the said original Line West by South thirty three perches and a half then North by West fifty eight perches and a half to the af.d East South East Line of Selbys Marsh & with the said Line East South East forty Seven perches then with a Straight Line to the aforementioned beginning (Containing) |
