(101) her said Husband or through Fear of his Displeasure according to the act of assembly aforesaid sides Geo Stuart Recorded Exam.d You Richard Butler do Swear that you will not for Lucre or Malice delay any Person or Persons Applying to You for any Business belonging to the Office you Officiate in and that you will not directly or Indirectly Ask demand take or receive from or Charge to Any Such person or persons to your Own Use (Except your salary from your principal any fee or Reward whatsoever for any Service You Shall do as Clerk of the said Office And Also that in making out the Office Fees you Will not Wittingly or willingly charge Other or higher Fees than Limited by the Act Entitled an Act for Amending the Staple of Tobacco for Preventing Frauds in his Majestys Customs and for the Limitation of Officers fees W.m Steuart June 28.th 1766 Sworn to before Recorded 28.th June 1766 Brought from page 79 On the 22.d Day of July 1766 Came before us the subscribers two of his Lordships Justices of the Peace for Ann Arundel County Ann the Wife of the with mentioned Thomas Johnson Junior and being privately examined by us out of the Hearing of her said Husband did acknowledged That she freely relinquished her Right of Dower to the Tract of Land within mentioned to be granted bargained and sold and fully consented to the within Instrument of Writing and that she did the same willingly & freely without being induced thereto by Fears or Threats of or ill usage by her said Husband or fear of his Displeasure Reverdy Ghiselin [illegible] w.th William Steuart [illegible] record [illegible] 79 Ex.d This Indenture made this eleventh Day of March in the Year of our Lord One thousand seven hundred and sixty six Between James Tilghman the third of the City of Annapolis in Ann Arundel County Attorney at Law of the one part and David Lindsey Ward of Charles County Planter of the other part Whereas for the Docking barring and extinguishing all Estates Tail and Reversions and Remainders thereupon expectant or depending of and in the Land and Appurtenances herein after mentioned the said James Tilghman as Demandant hereafter (at the Request Costs and Charges of the said David Lindsey Ward) to prosecute and sue out of his Lordships High Court of Chancery his said Lordships Writ of Entry sur Disseisin en le post against him the said David Lindsey Ward returnable and to be returned to the next Provincial Court at Annapolis on the Second Tuesday of April next whereby the said James Tilghman is to Demand against him the same David Lindsey Ward all that parcell of plantable Land called and known by the Name of Ingorthop scituate lying and being at the Head of Nanjamy in (Charles) |
