(40) Memorandum that on the Nineteenth day of September 1759 Came Philip Sewell party to the within Deed before us the Subscribers two of his Lordships Justices of Ann Arundel County Court and did acknowledge the within Instrument of Writing to be his Act and Deed and the Land and Premisses therein mentioned to be the Estate right and title of the within named Valintine Brown Jun.r his Heirs and Assigns for Ever at the same time came Sarah Sewell Wife to the said Philip Sewell and being Privately Examined by us out of the hearing of her Said Husband freely gave up her right of Dower to the within mentioned Land and the Said right to be invested in the Said Valintine Brown Jun.r his Heirs and Assigns for Ever according to the Directions of the Act of Assembly in that case made and Provided Taken before us Henry Howard Ephraim Howard Sept.r 19 1759 Rece.d the sum of thirty Shillings Current Money of Valintine Brown Jun.r being the Consideration Money for the within Deed his Test Henry Howard P Philip S Sewell Mark Received of M.r Valintine Brown Jun.r three Shillings and six pence Sterling for his Lordships use (it being the Alienation fine on the within mentioned Land) by Virtue of a Commission from Edward Lloyd Esquire his Lordships Agent and Receiver General Recorded 14th Nov.r 1759 Rich.d Dorsey 7 sides Ex.d This Indenture made this Se^ve^nteenth day of October Anno Domini Seventeen hundred and fifty Nine between Joshua George of Cæcil County in the Province of Maryland Merchant of the One Part and Edward Veazey of the same County and Province Gentleman of the other Whereas by and upon a Writ Sur Disseisin en le post returnable before the Justices of the Provincial Court on the eleventh day of September last past he the said Edward Veazy did demand against the said Joshua George all that Tract or Parcel of Plantable (Land) |
