(136) On the Back of the aforegoing Deed was thus written to wit On the Ninth day of August 1760 the within named Philip Thomas acknowledged the within written Deed according to the Directions of an Act of Assembly in such case made and Provided And at the same time came Ann the Wife of the said Philip Thomas who being privately and out of the hearing of her said husband Examined acknowledged that she freely and Voluntarily relinquished her Right of Dower before me Geo Steuart Aug.t 9 1760 Rec.d of John Thomas by order of the within named sides Philip Thomas Esq.r the sum of Two hundred and fifty pounds Sterling being 10 the consideration within mentioned assigned to me for my Right to a Tract of Land called Locust thickett lying in Ann Arundell County near Elk Ridge heretofore exchanged for the within mentioned Land p.r Will Thomas 8th Septem.r 1760 Received of M.r John Thomas the Sum of twenty shillings Sterling for his Lordships use being the alienation fine for the Land within mentioned Recorded 10th Septem.r 1760 Edw.d Lloyd x.d This Indenture made the thirtieth day of April in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred and Sixty Between Joseph Ensor of Cecil County in the Province of Maryland Merchant of the one part and John Brice of the City of Annapolis in the Province aforesaid Gent of the other part Witnesseth that the said Joseh Ensor for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds Sterling Money to him in hand paid by the sid John Brice the receipt whereof he the said Joseph Ensor doth hereby acknowledge and thereof and therefrom and of and from every part and Parcel thereof doth hereby acquit (exonerate) |
