95) the said severall Debts and likewise the said Vessell and the appurtenances aforesaid were seized into her said late Majestys hand by the said sherriff of Middlesex as by the said Extent and Inquisition enrolled upon Record in her said late Majestys and his present Majestys Court of Exchecquer may appear by Virtue of which said seizure in Law the said severall and respective Debts and Effects are Vested in his present Majesty And the said Thomas Couts divested of them respectively And his Majesty now stands in the place and stead of the said Thomas Couts and is intituled to the same Remedy for Recovery thereof as he the said Thomas Couts could have had had not the said seizure in Law been made But in regard the said Debtors and persons aforesaid in whose hands the said severall and respective Debts and Effects are found to be are Resident in parts beyond the seas out of the Jurisdiction of the Comon Laws of Great Brittain Now know yee that we the said Commissioners of his Majestys Customes or the Major part of us have and by these Presents Doe for and on his Majestys behalf make ordain Nominate Constitute and appoint Maurice Birchfield Esquire surveyor Generall of his Majestys Customes for the southern continent in America James Bowles Esquire Collector of the Customes in North Potomack in Maryland and Philip Lee of Patuxen River in Maryland Merchant to be joyntly and severally the Lawfull Attorneys |
