502) to John Scott of S.t Georges Hundred in the said County planter bearing Date the Twenty first Day of May One Thousand Six hundred Ninety one when of a Truth and Really the said Scott Dyed in the Year One Thousand six hundred eighty five as by an inventory of his estate returnd into the Comissarys Office of this county by Casparus Herman and Edward Green adm.rs of the said Scott appears which said Land consisting of two thousand five hundred acres is now claimed by Mathias Vanbebber of Bohemia in Maryland Esq.r under Walter Scott son of John Scott af.d as tis said I Do likewise certifie that William Tongue in whose hand writing the Deed is Recorded and by whom the said is placed among the Records of One Thousand six hundred Ninety One arrived not in this countrey untill the year One Thousand Seven hundred & two and further that the s.d Tongue was often accused of being concerned in the Forgery of the said Deed and to have reced Money from M.r Mathias Vanbebber af.d for the Sam of which he could never acquit himself neither openly deny the same John French Cop.d 7.ber 16.th 1723 p M VBebbe Cecill County Be it Remembred that Walter Scott of said county Maryland cordwainer aged about Fifty One Years being solemnly Ex.d Sworn on the holy evangelists of Allmighty God Deposeth that in or about the Month of May of in the Year of Our Lord 1707 he was sent for to the house of Mathias Vanbebber of said county who was there in company with a certain William Tongue ^late^ of New Castle County in Pensylvania Deced And a certain George Dakeyne of the same Gent that the same Mathias VBebber asked him the Said Deponent the Questions following First if he the Said Deponent ever knew one Edward Green late of New Castle County af.d Deceased to which this Deponent answered Yes If a certain John Scott late of said New Castle County Deced was not this Deponents reputed Father to which he again answered in the Affirmative If the said Green & Scott ever had any Dealings together |
