49 x.d This Indenture made the twenty third Day of October Anno Dom 1711 and in the tenth year of the reigne of our sovereigne Lady Anne by the grace of God of Great Brittain Queen defender of the faith &c Between Philemon Hemsley of Queen Anns County Gentl of the one part and W.m Newman and John Warrin of Charles County of the other part Wittnesseth that whereas there is an agreement and conclusion made between the said Philemon Hemsley and Mary Contee widdow for a Marriage shortly to be had and solemnized between them he the said Philemon Hemsley as well for and in consideracon of the said Marriage as for and in consideration of the sume of twenty Negroes between fourteen and forty years of age two hundred head of cattle one hundred and fifty head of sheep two hundred head of hoggs two hundred thousand pounds of tobacco and all such household goods and plate which she the said Mary has now at her own disposall and whereby the said Marriage is to become the right and property of the said Philemon Hemsley for a settlement security provision and Maintenance for her the said Mary Hath bargained sold made over and absolutely transferred as by these presents he doth for himself his heirs executors and |
