80 France and Ireland defender of the faith &c and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eleven Between Sarah Webb of the Citty of Bristoll Widdow (only sister and heir of Seth Biggs late of Maryland in the parts beyond the seas planter deceased) of the one part & John Hodges of the said Citty of Bristoll Mariner of the other part Whereas the said Seth Biggs was in his Lifetime and at the Time of his death ^lawfully^ seized in his Deamesne as of fee of and in divers Messuages plantations houses Lands Tenements and hereditaments Lying and being in Maryland afd and being so seized dyed Intestate without Issue of his body begotten or brother or sister other then the said Sarah Webb by means whereof she the said Sarah is now Intituled to the same as heir at Law to him the said Seth Biggs Wittnesseth now this present Indenture that as well for and in Consideration of the sume of five shillings of good and Lawfull money of Great Brittain to the said Sarah Webb in hand well and Truly paid by the said Jn.o Hodges at or before the Ensealing and Delivery of these presents the receipt whereof she doth hereby acknowledge as for Diverse other good Causes and Valluable Considerations her the said Sarah Webb in this behalf especially moveing she the said Sarah Webb hath granted bargained sold aliened released Conveyed and Confirmed and by these Presents doth fully Clearly and absolutely grant bargain sell Alien Release Convey and Confirm unto the said Jn.o Hodges (in his actuall possession now being of the said Messuages plantations and p.rmises herein before and after menconed by Vertue of one Indenture of bargain and sale to him thereof made for one Year bearing date the day next before the day of ^the date of^ these presents and by force of the statute for Transferring of Uses into poss.n) and to his heires and assignes for ever All and singular the said Messuages plantations houses Lands Tenements and hereditaments of what nature kind or Quallity soever scituate Lying & being in Maryland afd and Virginia or either of them or in any other Continent or place whatsoever in America and by what names Quantitys and Quallitys soever the same are Commonly Called known or Described Togeather with all and singular Negroes proffitts Comodities advantages Emoluments Hereditaments and appurtenances whatsoever to the same premises or either of them or any part or parcell thereof them or either of them belonging or in any wise appertaining or accepted reputed taken known used occupied or enjoyed as part parcell or member of them or either of them and all rents and services reserved due or payable upon or by any demise Lease or grant Demises Leases or grants made of the said premises or any part or parcell thereof and the reversion & reversions remainder and remainders thereof and also all the Estate right Title Interest use possession Freehold Inheritance Challenge Claim and Demand whatsoever of her the said Sarah Webb of in and to the said hereby granted and released premises and every or any part or parcell thereof with the appur To have and to hold all and singular the s.d (Messuages) |
