       Memorandom      That the w.thin written Indenture w.th the Lands and
       pmisses therein Menconed was this 31.th day of July 1717 acknowledged by
       the w.thin named Abraham Mears to be the right of the w.thin Tho.s Miles his
       heirs & assignes for ever and at y.e same day & time came Martha the
       wife of y.e s.d Abraham & acknowledged the same pursuant to the act
       of assembly in that case made and provided before me

x.d  This Indenture made this tenth day of 8ber in the year of
       our Lord seventeen hundred & seventeen Between Sam.ll Dorsey of
       Ann.ll Co.ty of y.e one part & Cha.s Carroll Esq.r of y.e s.d Co.ty of the other part
       Wittnesseth that y.e s.d Sam.ll Dorsey for & in consideracon of the sume
       of Forty Nine p.d seventeen shill.s & nine pence curr.t mony to him
       in hand paid before y.e Insealing & Delivery of these psents y.e receipt
       whereof he Doth hereby acknowledge & thereof & of every part & pcell
       thereof Doth fully clearly & absolutely exonerate Acquitt and
       Discharge him y.e said Charles Carroll hath Given granted bargained
       sold Aliened Enfeoffed and Confirmed & by these psents he Doth Give
       Grant Bargaine Sell Alien Enfeoff & Confirme unto the s.d Cha.s Carroll
       & his heirs a certain peace ^Peice^ or pcell of Land called Hockley being one
       hundred acres formerly belonging to Edw.d [illegible] ^Lurn^ & by him assigned
       Edmund Talbott whose assignee y.e s.d Sam.ll father by Deed of Guift made
       over the said Land to his s.d sonn Sam.ll Lying in Baltemore County on
       the south side of the falls at the head of patapscoe river as alsoe
       one Gray horse branded ∞ on y.e near buttock a black mare branded X
       on the near buttock a bay horse marked ♦ on the near buttock a bay
       Maire branded R on the near buttock a Gray Maire branded ♦ on the
       near buttock a darke bay mare branded D on the near buttock a sorrell
       Horse branded IS allsoe on y.e near buttock To have & To hold the s.d pcell
       of Land w.thin the s.d seven horses and Mairs above menconed unto him y.e s.d
       Cha.s Carroll his heirs & assignes for ever & y.e s.d Sam.ll for himself and
       his heirs doth covenant promise grant & agree to & w.th the s.d Charles
