       Secretary of Maryland the province of Maryland And
       the said province haveing since become invested in Benedict
       Leonard Lord Baltemore proprietor thereof who had for
       divers good considerations agreed by instrument under
       his hand and seale to Grant to the said Beake the said
       Office of Secretary for Life But he dyed before the said
       office was so Granted to him by the said Lord Proprietor
       And the said Thomas Beake having done signal services
       for the said Lord Baltemore and his heirs in solliciting
       from the Crown the restituttion of the Government of the
       said province by which the said Beaks Commission of
       secretary from the Crown is voyd And Whereas the said
       Charles Lowe at the Desire of the said Benedict Leonard
       Lord Baltemore before he dyed is to transact the affairs of
       the said Province and otherwise for the said Charles Lord
       Baltemore under the direction of the said Lord Guilford his
       Guardian Know therefore that I the said Charles Lord
       Baltemore and I the said Francis Lord Guilford Guard.n
       of the Said Lord Baltemore on his behalf (by vertue of the
       powers given in the Letters Patents from King Charles
       the first to Cecilius Baron of Baltemore his heirs and
       assignes of the said Province of Maryland &c.a) Do by
       these presents constitute and appoint you the said
       Thomas Beake and you the said Charles Low Esq.rs
       jointly to execute the office of secretary of the sid
       Province of Maryland And in case of the decease of
       either of you the said office to go intirely to the survivor
       hereby authorizeing you And giveing you full power
       to Nominate and appoint a sufficient Deputy And
       also authorizeing and impowering you or your
       sufficient Deputy to be present at all meetings of the
       Governour and Councill and of the assemblys in that
       province and to keep an Exact Register of all their
       Acts Proceedings and Orders  And to do and perform
