x.d      This Indenture made this
       seventh day of September in the yeare
       of our Lord God one thousand seven hundred
       and Eight by and Between John Baptist
       a Carberry of S.t Maries County Gentleman
       of the one part and Charles Carroll of
       Ann Arundell County Gentleman of the
       other part  Wittnesseth that he the s.d John
       for and in Consideration of the sume of
       five thousand pounds of Tobacco and fifty
       pounds Currant and Lawfull money of
       England to him in hand at or before the
       Ensealing and delivery of these presents well
       & Truly paid by the s.d Charles the Receipt
       whereof he the s.d John doth hereby acknowledge
       and thereof and of Every part
       and Parcell thereof doth fully Clearly and
       absolutely Exonerate acquitt and discharge
       him the s.d Charles Carroll his heires and
       assignes for ever hath Given Granted
       bargained sold aliened enfeoffed and Confirmed
       as by these presents he doth for him and
       his heires give grant bargaine sell alien
       Enfeoff and Confirme unto him the said Charles
       Carroll  All that Tract or parcell of Land
       lyeing in S.t Maries County aforesaid and
       known by the name of Hopton Parke and
