       Maryland in America  To have hold Exercise &
       Enjoy the office & place of Secretary unto me ^the^ s.d
       S.r Thomas Laurence by myselfe or sufficient
       Deputy during her Maj.tys pleasure & the Residence
       of me the said S.r Thomas Laurence in the
       said province of Maryland Togeather w.th all
       Rights priviledges proffitts perquisites and
       advantages to y.e said office belonging incident or
       in anywise appertaining in such manner and
       form as any pson or psons heretofore have held
       or enjoyed or ought to have held & enjoyed the
       same  And Whereas her Maj.tie upon my humble
       petitcon hath been Gratiously pleased by her
       Royall Lycence under her sign m^a^nual to grant
       unto me y.e s.d S.r Thomas Laurence full leave licence
       & permission to be absent from her said province
       of Maryland during her Royall pleasure I the
       said S.r Thomas Laurence appointing a sufficient
       Deputy for y.e due Execution of my s.d office of
       secretary during such my absence  Now know
       Aall men by these p.rsents That I the said S.r
       Thomas Laurence by & upon the Recommendation
       of his Excellency Coll John Seymore her Maj.tys
       p.rsent Governor of her said province of Maryland
       have nominated ordained Constituted and
       appointed by these p.rsents doe Nominat ordain
       Constitute & appoint Philemon Loyd of Talbot
       County in the s.d province of Maryland Gent my
       true and suffitient Deputy to exercise and
       Execute my said office of Secretary of the said
       province of Maryland  To have hold enjoy
