857 the Vice admiralty in the Province of Maryland for the time being Robert Quary and the Judge of the Vice admiralty in our Province of Pensilvania for the time being the Captains and Commanders of our signs of warr within the Admiralty Jurisdiction of the Provinces of Maryland and of of Pensilvania for the time being S.r Thomas Laurence and the Secretary of our Province of Maryland for the time being the Surveyor Generall of our customes in America for the time being the Receiver of our Revenue for the district of Patuxent in the Province of Maryland for the time being the Receiver of our Revenue for the district of Potomock in the Province of Maryland for the time being And the Collectors of our Plantations Duties in Maryland an din Pensilvania for the time being Our Commissioners at and for our provinces of Maryland and Pensilvania in America for the Purposes herein above mentioned we do make ordaine and constitute by these presents hereby giving and granting unto your our said Commissioners Joyntly or severally or any one of you by Warrant under the hand and Seale of you or any one of you full Power and Authority to committ to safe custody any Pson or Psons against whom information of Piracy Robbery or felony upon the sea shall be given upon oath which oath you or any one of you shall have full Power and are hereby required to administer And to call and assemble a Court of Admiralty on shipboard or upon the Land when and as often as occasion shall require which Court our Wills and pleasure it shall Consist of seven Psons at the least And if so many of you our Said Commissioners Cannot Conveniently be assembled Any three or more of you whereof You the said John Seymour or the Governour or Commander in Chief of our Province of Maryland for the time being or you the said William Penn or the Proprietor and Governour or Commander in Chief of Pensilvania for the time being Allways to be one shall have full power and authority by Virtue of the said Act and of these presents to call and assemble any other persons on shipboard ^or up^on the land to make up the Number of seven provided that no persons but such as are know merchants Factors or Planters or such as are Captaines Lieutenants or Warrant Officers in any of our ships of warr or Captaines matters or Mates of some English shipps shall be capable of being so called and sitting and Voting in the said Court And our farther pleasure is and we do hereby Expressly (declare |
