855 Governour Lieutenant Governour or member of his said Late Majestys Councill in any of the Plantations or Colonies aforesaid or Commander of one of his said late Majestys ships is allways to be one shall have full Power and Authority by virtue of the said Act to call and assemble any other persons on ship board or upon the Land to make up the number of seven And it is Provided that no persons but such as are known merchants factors or Planters or such as are Captains Lieutenants or Warrants officers in any of his said Late Majtes ships of Warr or Captaines Masters or Mates of some English shipp shall be capable of being so called and sitting and voting in the said Court And it is further Enacted that such persons called and assembled ^as afd^ shall have full Power and Authority according to the Course of the Admiralty to Issue Warrants for bringing any Persons accused of Piracy or Robbery before them to be tryed heard & Adjudged And to Summon wittnesses and to take informations and Examinations of Wittnesses upon their oath and to do all things necessary for the hearing and finall determination of any case of Pyracy Robery and felony and to give Sentence & Judgment of Death and to award Execution of the Offenders convicted and attainted as aforesaid according to the Civll Law and the methods and rules of the Admiralty And thatt all and every Person or Persons so Convicted and attainted of Piracy or Robbery shall have and suffer such losses of Lands goods and Chattells as if they had ben attainted and convicted of any Piracies felonies and Robberies according to a statute made in the eight and twentyeth Year of the Reigne of King Henry the eighth for tryall of Pyracies and Robberies upon the high sea Now Know yee that We in pursuance of the said Act of our Especiall Grace Certaine knowledge And meer motion have made constituted and appointed and by these presents do make constitute and appoint You the said John Seymour And the Governour or Commander In Chief of our province and Territory of Maryland for the time being William Penn and the proprietor and Governour or Commander in Chief of our Province of Pennsilvania for the time being the Vice Admirall or Vice Admiralls of Maryland and of Pennsilvania for the time being Thomas Finch John Addison Thomas Brooke Robert Smith John Hammond Francis Jenkins Edward Lloyd William Holland James Sanders Kennellan Chitleton William see original Courey Thomas Ennalls Robert Quary Members of our Councill in the Province of Maryland during Your being of our said Councill and (the |
