854 Majesty King Charles the Second for the better securing the Plantation Trade for the time being Greeting Whereas (by An Act passed in the eleventh and twelfth years of the Reigne of our Late Royall Brothers King William the third Entituled An Act for the more effectuall suppressing of piracy it is amongst other things Enacted that all Piracies felonies and Robberies Committed in or upon the Sea or in any Haven river Creek or Place where the Admirall or admiralls have power Authority or Jurisdiction may be Examined enquired off tryed heard determined and adjudged according to the Directions of the said Act in any Place at sea or upon the Land in Any of his said late Majestys Islands Plantations Colonies Dominions Forts or Factories to be Appointed for that purpose by his said late Majestys Commission or Commissions under the great seale of England or the Seale of the Admiralty of England Directed to all or Any the Admiralls Vice Admiralls Real Admiralls Judges of Vice Admiralitys or Commanders of any of his said late Majestys shipps of war and also to all or any such pson or persons Officer or officers by Name or for the time being as the Said Late King should think fitt to appoint w.ch said Commissioners should have full power Joyntly or severally by Warrant under the hand and seale of them or any one of them to committ to safe custody my pson or persons against whom information of Piracy Robbery or felony upon the sea shall be given upon oath & to call and assemble a Court of admiralty on ship board or upon the Land when and as often as occasion shall require which Court shall consist of seven psons at the least & It is further Enacted that if so many of the persons afd cannot Conveniently be assembled any three of the said persons whereof the president or Chief of some English factory or the (Govern.r |
