Rob.t Proctor plt
Tho Bland Def.t  Plea
       And the said Thomas Bland in his proper person Comes and defends the force and Injury
       when &.ca and for plea hereunto Sayth that att the tyme in the declaracon menconed the said
       Thomas did Signe and Seale and as his act and deed Deliver a Bill of Sale of the said
       Robert his own procureing the Contents of w.ch was that the Said Thomas was bound under
       the penalty of 3000 ℓ of Tobacco that the said Allice should serve the said Robert
       According to the Custome of the Country and to warrant the Sale and that the said
       Allice was Left at the house of the said Robert as the proper servant to the said Rob.t
       and not as the Servant to the said Thomas and to pay anything for her accomodacons
       And thereto is ready to prove and thereupon prayeth the Judgem.t of this Court whether the said
       Rob.t ought to have his said accon

                                  And the said Robert Proctor By Henry Hanslap his Attorney Sayth that by
       any thing the Def.t in his plea alledges he ought not to be debarred of his accon for the said
       woman Servant Allice was then the proper Servant of the Said Defend.t and noe Servant
       of his the Said Robert and this he Averrs and thereupon puts himselfe upon the Court

       Whereupon the Wittnesses Supanad for this p.lt were Called who being duely Sworne and
       Examined deposed as followeth (viz.t)
                                    Christopher Bridgewater aged 29 yeares sayth that Thomas Bland upon A
       Saturday night togeather with a woman Servant Called Allice Comeing to the house
       of Robert Proctor the Said Thomas Bland would have Sold the Said Servant to M.r Proctor
       and desired M.r Proctor to keep the Said Servant and Looke after her But that M.rs Proctor
       was unwilling She Should Stay in the house and would have had M.r Bland to have Caryed her
       away againe And this deponent further Sayth that the next morning the said M.r Bland
       would needs fell the said woman Servant whether M.r Proctor and his wife would or noe And
       that the said Bland fetched two Bottles of wine and said he would have that wine for the servant
       to w.ch M.r Proctor Replyed that M.r Bland should pay for the same and when the said M.r
       Bland was goeing from the house M.r Proctor would have had him to have taken back to take
       the said Servant along with him But that M.r Bland would By noe means take away the said
       Servant But Left her there and desired M.rs Proctor to keep her a month promiseing her
       a hogg.d of Tobacco and that She Should have the said Servant for her paynes And this
       Deponent further Saith not
                                  Allice Borroughs aged about 24 yeares Saith that M.r Bland above menconed
       send he would give a hogg.d of Tobacco to M.rs Proctor if She would keep the woman Servant
       above menconed for a month and that if she keep her Longer She Should have her for nothing And
       this deponent further Sayth not
                                    Anne Turner aged about 24 yeares Saith that att the Tyme above menconed
       M.r Bland being att M.r Proctors house Brought out two Bottles of wine And said I will
       Drinke for her however meaning Allice Spyer the womans servant above menconed and upon
       his Saying that he would leave the said Servant with this deponents Mistris her M.rs Replyed
       She would have nothing to do with her and thereupon M.r Bland said if you will keep her A
       moneth you Shall have a hogg.d of Tobacco and if she did well att the months End her Misstresse
       should have her Likewise for her Trouble And this Deponent further Sayth not
                                   Then were the wittnesses for the Def.t also Called who being Duly Sworne and
       Examined deposed as followeth (viz.t)
                                   George Brabant Servant to Thomas Bland aged about 25 yeares saith that
       M.r Bland (his Master) Brought downe Allice Spyer on a saturday night to Robert Proctors
       and would have sold her to him But that in Regard she was very ill M.rs Proctor was Loath
       to Buy her And M.r Bland demanding 800. Tobacco for the said Servant M.rs
