868) William the Third by the Grace of God King of England Scotland France and Ireland Defender of the faith & To all to whome these prents shall come Greeting Know yee that wee of Our especiall grace certaine knowledge and meer mocon have given and Granted and by these presents Doe give and Grant unto Our Trust and welbeloved Thomas Lawrence Esquire of the Office or Place of Secretary of the Province of Maryland in America the Government whereof wee have taken into our hands and under our imediate care and him the said Thomas Lawrence Secretary of the Province of Maryland in America wee doe make ordaine and constitute by these presents To have hold execise and enjoy the said Office or place unto the said Thomas Lawrence by himselfe or his sufficient Deputy dureing our pleasure and the Residence of the said Thomas Lawrence in the said Province together with all rights priviledges profits perquisits and advantages to the said Office belonging incident or in any wise appertaining and in such manner and forme as any Secretary of any of our Provinces in America for or by reason of the exercise and execution of such office or place may Lawfully have receive or enjoy And wee have Revoked and determined and by these presents doe Revoke and determine certaine Lres Patents under Our Great Seale of England beareing date the fifth day of September in the third yeare of the Reigne of us and of our late Royall Consort Queen Mary whereby the said office was Granted unto Sir Thomas Lawrence Baronett In Witnesse whereof wee have caused these our Letters to be made patents Witnesse Thomas Archbishop of Canterbury and the rest of the Keepers and Justices of the Kingdome at Westminster the Twentieth Day of September in the tenth yeare of our Reigne By Writt of Privy Seale Pigott Talbott fs To all Christian People to whome these p.rsents shall come Greeting Know yee that William Leeds late of the Country af.d Gen.t Dec.d in his lifetime was Really Possessed w.th severall Tracts of Land Lyeing & being in the county af.d at the time of his Death in his Last will and Testament did give & Bequeath unto his two eldest sonns (viz) William Leeds & Michaell Leeds all y.e af.d Lands and Tenements that he y.e s.d William Leeds was then really Possessed with all and to the Lawfull heires of their Bodyes But if the s.d William or Michaell Leeds they or either of them should die without Lawfull Issue then his or theire part to descend to his surviveing Brother Edward Leeds But if the s.d William Leeds & Michaell should both die without Issue & heires of their Bodyes Lawfully begotten them then the s.d Lands & Tenements to Descends to y.e two younger surviving Bretheren Edward Leeds & John Leeds But y.e Michaell Leeds Being now dead without issue and for y.e confermation of y.e af.d will Wee y.e af.d William Leeds Edward Leeds & John Leeds haveing considered that y.e af.d will give John Leeds no part of the af.d Lands & Tenements whilst wee three Breatheren be all Liveing therefore wee the s.d William & Edward Leeds being willing y.t the s.d John Leeds should have an equall part of y.e af.d Lands & Teneth with us therefore wee y.e s.d William Leeds Edward Leeds & John Leeds doe hereby covenant grant & agree Either to & with & theire to divide y.e s.d Lands & Tenements that so each may Know his Equall share of y.e s.d Lands & &r In Order thereunto it is Agreed upon by the ptyes af.d that this division Be^e^ing at a Marsh called y.e other hole marsh belonging to a cove that makes Wades Point & Runing from thence south & by east untill it intersects w.th y.e western arm of y.e Branch called Cattagle Branch & all y.e Lands lyeing on y.e western side of y.e af.d south & by east Line & Creek y.t makes y.e af.d Braunch shall be holden by y.e s.d Edward Leeds & John Leeds af.d to be equally divided to y.e prop.r use & behoofe of them y.e s.d Edward & John Leeds & their heires for ever & the remaining part of y.e s.d Lands Lyeing on y.e eastern side of y.e af.d south & by east line to be & Remain to y.e sole & proper use & Behoofe of y.e s.d W.m Leeds his heires or assignes for ever In Wittness Whereof the ptyes above mentioned have hereunto sett their hands & affixed their seales this fifth day of May Annoq |
