Government And ^w.th^ which falce Reports its much much Doubles many of his Maj.ties good and peaceable
subjects have been much amused and abused by falce notions and app.rhentiones w.ch if not speedily removed
may tend to y.e great damage and punishment of such psons noe less then disquiet of y.e Province the
same things having already brought severall psons to condigne punishm.t and will undoubtedly be the
porcon of all others that shall psist in such evills  And for as much as y.r Ex.cy hath of your goodness
Condescended soe farr as to lay before y.e Court and Country lately P.rsent at Annapolis to a very great number

those gentle admonitions will not be reclaimed And to lett all Know those very psons who were y.e actors
and Principles therein are soe sensible of y.e falcities and evill thereof that they have made a Publick
Accknowledgement and entered into Solemn Engagem.t to avoyd and abandon y.e like for y.e future
Wee doe therefore humly Pray your Ex.cy that it may be published proclaimed and made knowne that
all y.e said Rumours and stories are falce feigned and scandalous and malitious invented and spread
abroad by John Cood as principle authour and others that have suffered thereby and soe probably would y.e
said Cood alsoe but that he is fled into Virg.a And there harboured w.th whome his Maj.ties good subjects
may be comanded and required not onely to forbear Assotiateing and Combineing but to seize and apprehend
him Wheresoever found In this Province and Convey to y.e next Justice of peace to be sent to y.e sher
of y.e County according to a former Proclamation and wee doe hope and expect that all psons will take
warning and thereby cautioned ag.t such practices for y.e future it appearing to us that your Ex.cy is
desireous and inclined rather to Caution and P.rvent y.e Evill then punish for it and not to take
advantage ag.t aney for what is past provided they behave them selves as they ought for y.e future
And wee hope all psons take due Notice and Confirme themselves as they will answer y.e Contrary at
their Uttmost Perrill                                                                                Robert Smith      Tho Staley
