       This Indenture made the fourteenth day of October in the Yeare of our Lord
       one thousand six hundred Ninety & four Between Isaack Paine of Sn.t Maries County
       in the Province of Maryland Planter on the one Part And Sarah Smith of the same
       County Spinster and Henry Smith Father of the said Sarah and Thomas Griffin of the
       aforesaid County Planter on the Other Part Witnesseth that for & in Consideracon
       of a Marriage shortly to be had & solemnized Between the said Isaack Paine and Sarah
       Smith And of five shillings paid him the said Isaack by the said Henry Smith & Thomas
       Griffin Hee the said Isaack Paine hath granted released & confirmed And by these Presents
       doth grant release & confirme unto the said Henry Smith & Thomas Griffin in their Actuall
       Possession now being by vertue of Indenture of bargaine & sale bearing date the day
       before the Day of the Date hereof and by vertue of the statute for transferring uses into
       Possession in that behalfe made & provided And to their heires All that Parcell of Land
       called Sn.t Jeromes thicket lying in Sn.t Jeromes in Sn.t Maries County aforesaid as
       the same was formerly in the Tenure and holding of Francis Martin deceased
       begining at the Little Indian feild and soe bounded on the houses Conteyning Two hundred
       acres more or lesse which Land was seized by the Attorney Generall for the use of the R.t
       hono.ble Cæcilius then Lord & Prop.ry of this Province and by him granted to Thomas Paine
       decd late father of the said Isaack by Lords Patent beareing date the Fourth day of Octob.r
       1669 And all wayes easements Proffitts Comodities and Appurtences to the same belonging
       And all houses out houses barnes stables Orchards & Gardens thereunto belonging appertaining
       And the revercon And revercons remainder & Remainders thereof To have & To hold
       the said Land & Premisses with the Appurtennces unto the said Henry Smith & THomas
       Griffin their heires and Assignes To the uses intents and Purposes hereafter perticulerly
       Expressed (that is to say) To the use of the said Isaack Paine for & dureing the terme of
       his naturall Life without impeachment of wast and after his decease to the use of the
       said Sarah Smith for the terme of her Naturall life and from & after both their deceases
       to the use of the heires of the body of the said Sarah by the said Isaack Lawfully to be
       begotten and for want of such issue to the heires of the body of the survivour of them
       the said Isaack and Sarah and for want of such issue to the right heires of him the
       said Isaack forever and to & for no^n^e other use intent or purpose whatsoever To be
       holden of the Cheife Lord or Lords of the fee or fees of the Premisses by the rents & services
       therefore due & of right accustomed And the said Isaack Paine for him & his heirs and
       said Two hundred Acres of Land to the uses afd shall & will warrant & defend against all
       psons forever by these Presents And also the said Isaack Paine for him & his heires doth
       hereby covenant grant & agree to & with the said Henry Smith and Thomas Griffin That
       he the said Isaack & his heires & all claiming under him shall & will from time to time
       at the reasonable request & at the Costs and charges of the Person or Persons requireing
       the same make & grant such further & other conveyances for the further & better
       settling the said granted premisses to the uses afd as by councill learned in the Law shall
       be reasonably devised or advised & required In Witness whereof the Parties aforesd to
       these Ind.rs interchangably have put their hands and seales the day & yeare first above

          Sealed and Delivered after the Sealeing & Delivery            5.th Feb.ry 1694
          of the w.thin Indenture of Lease in the Presence
          of         Elias Beach                                          Came Isaack Paine & acknowledged the w.thin
                      Thomas Loker                                     Indenture to be his Act and Deed to the uses
