       the receipt whereof wee doe hereby acknowledge and thereof and every part ^& pcell^ thereof Doe
       hereby clearly and absolutely exonerate acquitt and discharge him the said William Thomas
       his heires Executors Adm.rs and Assignes for ever By these p.rsents have given granted
       bargained sould aliened Enfeoffed and Confirmed And doth by these p.rsents Give grant
       bargaine aliene sell enfeoff and confiirme unto the said William Thomas his heires &
       assignes For ever All that parcell of Lands called and Commonly knowne by the name of
       Kedgerstone Lyeing on the East side of Chesepeak bay and on the west side of a
       River in the said bay called Chester River and on the west side of a bay in the said River
       called Lanckfords Bay Begining at a marked pyne tree upon a pointt near a Cove
       runing North East up the bay for breadth Five hundred pches to a marked Oake
       by a fresh Runn bounding on the North by a Line drawne east from the said Oake
       for Length three hundred and twenty perches On the east by a Line drawne southwest
       from the end of the east Line Five hundred perches On the South by a Line
       drawne west from the end of the South West Line unto the first marked pyne on
       the West by the said Bay Containing and Laid out for One thousand acres more
       or Lesse Together with all the proffitts Rights and benefitts thereunto
       belonging And also all pattents Charters and evidences Touching or in any Wise
       concerning the same to Have & to hold the said parcell of Land & bargained p.rmisses &
       to the said William Thomas his heires and assignes for ever To the only prop.r
       use and behoof of the Said William Thomas his heires and assignes Forever
       And the said Maior Record.r Aldermen & Common Councill doe for themselves
       and theire successors Covenant promise grant and agree to and with the
       Said William Thomas his heires Executors Administ.rs & assignes by these
       presents That hee the Said William Thomas paying & performing the
       Rents and Services hereafter to become due and payable to the Lord and
       Lands of the office of the premisses They the said Maior Record.rs Aldermen
       and Common Councill the Said Land & premisses to him the Said William
       Thomas his heires and assignes against all manner of psons whatsoever
       will for ever Warrant and defend by these presents In witnesse whereof
       wee the Said Maior and Recorder in the behalf of our Selves and the Said
       whole Corporacon have caused these present Indentures to bee Sealed with
       the Seale of the Office of Majorality of the Said Citty and to bee signed by
       the aforesaid Recorder onely the day and yeare first above written

          On the backside of the aforegoeing deed
          was thus Written
                                              June y.e 13.th 1678
       Then Robert Carvile Gent Recorder of the Citty of S.t Maries did on the behalf
       of himself the Maior Aldermen and Comon Councillmen of the said Citty
       acknowledge the w.thin written deed of Conveyance to bee his Act and
       Deed to the uses therein Mentioned

       Memorandum
                            That this present day to witt the six and twentieth day
       of June 1678 came before the Hono.ble Phillip Calvert Esq Chancello.r of Maryland
       and one of the Justices of the prov.all Court Thomas Smyte of S.t Maries County planter
       and Joseph Trackney and Richard Atwood of the same County Planters as his
       Suretyes and confessed Judgment to Gilbert Turberville ^gent^  of the Same County for the
       summe of two thousand pounds of Tobaccoe a certaine debt by the said Gilbert
       Recovered ag.t the said Thomas at a prov.all Court held at the Citty of S.t Maries
       the seaventeenth day of June Instant and the summe of two thousand three hundred
       seaventy foure pounds of tobacco adjudged by the said Court against the said Thomas
       for Coste of Suite w.th stay of Execucon till the tenth day of October next
       According to an act of Assembly in that Case made & provided
                                                          Acknowledged y.e ab.ve day of June 1678
