       To all people to whome these p.rsents shall come Wee the Comm.rs for managing
       And Causing to bee Leavied And Collected his Majesties Customs subsdies and other
       duties in this his Kingdome of England send greeting Know yee that wee y.e sd Com.rs
       by Vertue of an act of Parliament made in y.e 25.th yeare of his late Majesties Reign
       Intituled an act for y.e Encouragem.t of the East land and Greenland Trades and
       for better securing the plantacon trade And in pursuance of the Authority and
       direccon to us Given by the right Honoble the Lor High Treas of England Have
       Deputed and Impowered and doe hereby Depute and Impower Patrick Meyne Esq.r
       To bee serveyor genn.ll of the Rates and duties ariseing and growing due to his
       Maj.ty by Vertue of the said act in his Maj.ties Severall Collonies and plantacons in
       America Whereby shee hath Power to Enter into any Shipp Bottom Boate or
       other vessell as Alsoe into any Shopp House warehouse Hostery or other place
       whatsoever To make Diligent search into any Trunke Chest Pack Case Truss or
       any other Parcell or Package whatsoever for any goods wares M.rchandize prohibited
       to be Exported or Imported or whereof the Customs or other duties have not
       beene duely paid and the same to seize to his Maj.ties use and also to putt in
       Execucon all other the Lawfull powers And Authorities for the better managing
       And Collecting the said Rates and Duties in all things proceeding as the Law directs
       thereof praying and requiring her Majesties Officers and Ministers And all others
       whome it may Concerne to bee Aiding and assisting to him in all things as
       becometh Given und.r our hands and seales of the Custom house London
       this 18.th of November 1685
