                Know all men by these p.rsents that I Thomas Gafan att p.rsent of Charles
                County in the Province aforsaid Gent being by Gods grace suddenly
                bound on a voyage for England For divers good causes and considerations
                me hereunto especially mooveing Have (in my absence) made ordained and
                Constituted and by these p.rsents doe make ordaine and Cons^ti^tute my much
                esteemed Friend Francis Pennington of S.t Maries County in the Province
                aforesaid Gent my true and Lawfull Attorney for me and in my name
                and to my owne proper use and behoofe To ask demand sue for Leavy recover
                and receive All dues Debts and demands that are or shall be due to me
                upon any accompt or by any meanes from any person or persons whatsoever
                and acquittances or other sufficient discharges for the same in my name to
                make seale and deliver and to doe all other act and acts thing and things
                concerning or relateing to any off my affaires in the said Province as fully
                and amply as if I my self being personally present might or could doe And
                Attorney or Attorneys under him to substitute and appoint for the prosenction
                of any of my Affaires and att his pleasure to revoke Hereby ratifying and
                confirming whatsoever my kind Attorney or any under him shall doe by vertue
                of these presents In Witnesse whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale
                this twenty third day of Aprill Anno Domi 1686
