343 (334 Came to said Cellar and some of said Machants haveing entered and veiwed therein goods complained that they had iust severall goods Boxes Bales fardells hatts and other goods to which the said Conant answered that he was sometimes that day absented that in the interim the Cellar was runeaged and as he thought some things taken away that the said Conant haveing enquired of one Stephen a servant who had been in said Cellar that Stephen answered that his Mistris was there and either Stephen or Matt or both said that what was done was by their Mistris's orders Upon w.ch this Depon.t advised the said Mach.ts tores contented that he did not question that all was layd aside for their advantage and further this Dep.t sayth he afterwards complained to Cap.t Lawrence how the said goods were missing that the said Lawrence sayd there was noe feare but what was missing was safe and that dureing Coll Darnalls & Majo.r Sewalls being there he advised Mad.m Underwood to remove as many small things as she could and that he beleived either she or Mad.m Taylor did remove some things for the poore Youngmens goods And for any thing more then what is already recited this Deponent cannot say against M.r Underwood or his Family as alsoe this Deponent doth take on his oath that to his knowledge Neither him nor his men have renewed or is possest of any part of sayd goods more then was was by said Merchants or Master Estis Given save only on small bagg sealed in this Depon.ts Custody w.ch is ready for said Merchants and hath been already tendred to said Merchants and declared by this Deponent to the hon.ble Majo.r Sewall And further remembers not Chris Smith Sworne in open Court by Chrismas Smith this Twenty Seaventh of February One thousand Six hundred Eighty Foure Tho Gruwin Clk This Indenture made the second day of March in the Ninth yeare of the Dominion of the R.tt honoble Charles Absolute lord & prop.ry of the province of Maryland Avalon lord Baron of Baltemore &c Annoq Dm 1684 Betweene Thomas Vaughan of Talbot County in the province of Maryland aforesaid gent of the one parte and Elizabeth Coursey of the same County and province aforesaid Widdow of the other party Witnesseth that the said Thomas Vaughan for and in Consideration of the sum of Twenty thousand pounds of good sound M.rch.table Toba.o and Cask to him in hand well and truly paid by the said Elizabeth Coursey before then sealeing and delivery hereof the receipt whereof he the said Thomas Vaughan doth hereby acknowledge and thereof doth Acquit Exonerate and discharge the said Elizabeth Coursey her heirs Execut.rs and Adm.rs firmely by these presents as alive for divers good Causes and Consideracons him the said Thomas Vaughan ^hereunto^ Moveing hath given granted bargained sould Alienated released enfeoffed and Confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargaine sell Alien release Enfeoffe and Confirme Unto the Elizabeth Coursey her heirs and assignes for Ever all that Messuage or Tenem.t and Tract of land Called Or knowin by the name of Anderbyes Addition leying and being in the said County of Talbot late in the demise Occupation or possession of the said Thomas Vaughan or his assignes begining at a Marked Oake on Anderbyes Creeke and runing North One hundred and sixtye perches then West one hundred perches then south one hundred and sixtie perches then East to the first marked Tree Containeing and laid out for one hundred Acres of land be the same more or less all that Tract or parcell of land Called Anderbye begining at a Marked Cedar tree runinge East and by South One hundred perches North by a lyne drawne West And by North one hundred perches on the west by a lyne drawin South from the End of the West and |
