(142 March y.e 8.th 1678 Upon the peticon of Thomas Tillett that hee came in to the Province w.th Cap.t Richard Angell who hee was to serve by Indenture foure yeares from his arrivall in this Province That his time of servitude was expired on the twenty sixth day of February last and that his Master John Baker refused to give him a discharge and therefore humbly requested an ord.r of this Court for his Freedome and his Freedome Corne & Clothes w.ch peticon being read and heard John Baker appeared in person to answere the premisses and the same being Fully argued Itt is the Judgment of the Court here that the said Thomas Tillett is Free And itt is ordered by the Court here that the said John Baker pay unto the said Thomas Tillett his freedome Corne and Cloathes according to Act of Assembly These are to Authorize and Impower Christopher Rousby and Robert Ridgely gent to bee my lawfull Attornyes To prosecute for us One Accon against Collon.ll Burges and the rest of the Comiss.rs of the County Court of Ann arrundell in the Provinciall Court Ratifieing and Confirmeing what my said Attornyes or Either of them shall doe therein In witnesse whereof I have hereunto sett my hand and seale this ninth day of December One thousand six hundred seaventy nine John Beamon (sealed) Sealed and signed in the p.rsence of) Charles Lloyd Thomas Bland On the back side of the aforegoeing warr.t of attorney was thus written Viz Thomas Bland made Oath that hee See John Beamon signe and seale this Letter of attorney Juravit 18.o Decembris 1679 Philip Calvert January 5.th 1679 Allen Oare of Saint Maryes County desired the marke of his hoggs and Cattle might be Recorded which is as followes Flower deluce in the right eare and slitt in the left eare Maryland fs This Indenture made the third day of January in the yeare of our Lord God one thousand six hund.rd seventy Nyne Between John Ward of Saint Maryes County in the Province aforesaid on the one part and John Barnes of the Citty of Saint Maryes Innholder on the other part Which Indenture Wittnesseth that the said John Ward for and in Consideration of the full sume & Just quantity of two thousand Eight hundred pounds of Tobacco good sound Marchantable Tobacco and Caske by the Said John Barnes to him the said John Ward well and truely Contented satisfied and paid before the ensealing and delivery of these presents Doth Covenant Promise grant and Agree to and with him the said John Barnes to serve him the said John his heyres or assignes from the day of the date hereof untill the full end & tearme of twenty two moneths in such service or imployment as he the said John Barnes his heyres or assignes shall imploy him in dureing the said Terme In further Consideration whereof the Said John Barnes doth Covenant Promise grant & agree to and with the said John Ward to find and allow him good & sufficient meate drinke washing & Lodging dureing the said Terme In Wittness whereof the said parties have hereunto sett their hands and seales the day and yeare first above written sealed signed and delivered signum in the presence of John + Ward sealed Daniell Carnell John Barnes sealed John Burdett |
