       Charles Absolute Lord and Proprietary of the Provinces of Maryland and Avalon Lord
       Baron of Baltemore &c To all persons to whome these p.rsents shall come Greeting Know yee
       that wee for and in Consideracon of the Rents and Covenants hereafter mentioned to bee paid
       done and performed by John Baker of The Citty of S.t Maryes Inneholder and for divers
       other Consideracons us thereunto Especially moveing Have Demised granted sett and
       to farme lett And by these p.rsents doe demise grant Sett and to farme lett unto the Said
       John Baker all that Messuage or Tenements and dwelling house scituate lyeing and
       being in the said Citty of Saint Maryes Commonly called the Country house and now in
       the possession of the said John Baker Together alsoe w.th one parcell of Land to the
       same house now belonging according to a Certificate survey lately made by and Deare
       Cozen Baker Brooke Esq.r our surveyo.r Gen.ll by vertue of a Warr.t from our Trusty and
       well beloved Thomas Notley Esq.r our Cap.t Gen.ll and Chiefe Governo.r of our Said
       Province of Maryland and remaining upon Record in our Secretaryes Office bearing
       date the nineteenth day of June One thousand six hundred seaventy eight now
       (Called The Governour of Friendshipp) being Butted and bounded in manner following
       That is to say begining at a stake in the ground over ^against^ a street called middle street it being
       On the Westerne side of the Land layd out for Marke Cordea Called Cordeas hope and
       runing from thence by a Line drawne Two degrees south of the West and w.thout the
       porch of the Country house Eight perches and six feet to a stake in the Ground On
       And from thence with a Line drawne Two degrees West of the North Twenty foure
       perches to another Stake in the Ground neare the Land of Garret Ban swearing and from
       thence with a Line drawne two degrees North of the East untill it intersect a Line drawne
       Two degrees west of the North from the first Stake Layd out for One acre and one
       fourth of an acre or thereabouts more or lesse To have and to hold the said Messuage
       or Tenem.t and the said one Acre and one fourth of an acre of Land aforesaid to the Said
       Messuage or Tenement belonging with all houses Edifices to the same belonging to him
       the said John Baker his Executo.rs administ.rs and assignes from the day of the date of
       these p.rsents for and dureing and untill the full end and terme of Twenty and five years
       from thence next ensueing and fully to bee Compleate and ended Yeilding and paying
       therefore yearly and every yeare dureing the said terme unto us or our heires or
       successors or our Receivers at our receipt at the Citty of Saint Maryes at the Feast
       of the Nativity of our Lord One busshell of good English Wheate And the said Jn.o
       Baker in Consideracon of the said Demise and grant of the p.rmisses aforesaid doth for
       himself his Executors and Adm.rs Covenant promise and agree to and with us and hereby
       is obliged with what Convenient Speed That may bee to cause the said Messuage or Tenem.t
       Called the Country house and all other the houses to the same belonging and upon the
       same Land Erected to bee well and sufficiently repaired and amended w.th all such
       necessary reparacons and amendments as shall bee thought needfull and requisite to
       make the same Tenantable and fitt to dwell in And shall alsoe cause the said one
       acre and one fourth of an acre aforesaid to bee Fenced in with good and sufficient poles
       and the said Message or Tenements and Land aforesaid and all the houses thereupon
       built or hereafter dureing the Continuance of the said Lease to bee built shall keep in
       such good and Tenantable repaire and the same soe repaired amended fenced & impaled
       shall at the expiracon of the Said Terme of Twenty five yeares Yeild & quietly and
       peaceably deliver up to us or our heirs or successors Given att our Citty of Saint
       Maryes under The Lesser Seale of our Said Province of Maryland The fourteenth
       day of January in the Fourth yeare of our Dominion &c Annoq Dom One thousand
       Six hundred seaventy Eight Witnesse our trusty and well Beloved Thomas Notley
       Esq.r Our Leiu.t Gen.ll and Chiefe Governo.r of our Said Province of Maryland
