MARYLAND, That Section 155(d) of Article 41 - Governor -
Executive and Administrative Departments, of the
Annotated Code of Maryland (1971 Replacement Volume and
1974 Supplement) be and it is hereby repealed and
re—enacted, with amendments, to read as follows:
Article 41 — Governor — Executive and
Administrative Departments
155.
(d) The Director of the State Library shall:
(1) Have power to appoint, with the approval of the
library committee, [such] employees [as] he [shall deem]
DEEMS necessary to carry out the performance of his
duties, and the persons [so] appointed shall receive
[such] compensation as provided in the State budget.
(2) Distribute, under the supervision and direction
of the library committee, [the bound copies of the laws
and journals of the General Assembly,] the Maryland
Reports and Maryland Appellate Reports, including the
advance reports to the Maryland Reports. The remaining
copies shall be retained in the State Library or may be
used by the State Library for exchange purposes.
[(3) Deliver to each public circulating library, or
library association which may make application therefor,
one copy of the laws and journals, provided there be at
the time of application more than twenty—five copies of
the volume applied for in the Library.]
[(4)] (3) Not allow any book, map or documents to be
taken out of [said] THE Library except by the Executive
and Legislative Departments, and other State agencies
located in Annapolis, members of the General Assembly,
Judges of the Court of Appeals, Court of Special Appeals,
and on inter—library loan to other libraries.
[(5)] (4) Have, with the approval of the library
committee, the power and authority to sell and/or
exchange from time to time [such] books, including the
Maryland Reports, Maryland Appellate Reports, Session
Laws FOR ALL YEARS BEFORE 1975, Codes, maps and
periodicals, in the State Library, as he considers
prudent and desirable to sell and/or exchange, and the
proceeds of [such] THE sales, after deducting the
expenses incident thereto, shall be paid over to the
State Treasurer within thirty days after the receipt
thereof; provided no book, map or periodical shall be
[so] sold if its sale would break a set.
[(6)] (5) Report in writing to the library committee
