§23. Penalties for violations of article.
[Any licensee and any officer or employee of a
licensee who shall knowingly violate the provisions of §
16, 17 or 19 of this article, and any] ANY person,
[copartnership, association or corporation, whether
licensed under the provisions of this article or not,
which] WHO [shall] knowingly [violate] VIOLATES the
provisions of [§§] § 1[, 21 or 22 (a)] of this article[,
shall be] IS guilty of a misdemeanor[,] and [upon] ON
conviction [thereof, shall be punishable] IS SUBJECT for
each offense [by] TO a fine [of] not [more than]
EXCEEDING [five hundred dollars ($500.00),] $500 or [by]
imprisonment [of] not [wore than six (6)] EXCEEDING 6
months[,] or [by both such fine and imprisonment, in the
discretion of the court] BOTH.

from Art. 58A, §23. It contains the penalty
for violation of the licensing provisions
contained in this article. The penalty for
violation of the credit and related provisions
is set forth in §12—213 of the Commercial Law
Article.
SECTION 8. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That new
Sections 24 and 25 be and they are hereby added to
Article 58A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1972
Replacement Volume, 1974 Supplement) title "Small Loans —
Licensing Provisions," to read as follows:
§ 24. DEFINITIONS.
(A) IN GENERAL.
IN THIS SUBTITLE THE FOLLOWING WORDS HAVE THE
MEANINGS INDICATED.
