positions defined in this Law, each twelve month period
during the term of office will equal one year of credited
future service;

(4) for members who have worked on a
part-time career basis as provided in the Personnel
Regulations, part—time service credits will be based on
the number of hours of service rendered in a fiscal year
as follows:

Each one hundred seventy—six hours shall equal one
month of credited service. Accumulated hours of
eighty—eight to one hundred seventy—six shall equal one
month of credited service. An accumulation of less than
eighty—eight hours shall not be credited and there shall
be no carry over of excess hours from one fiscal year to
the next. Any member working on a year-round basis of
less than thirty—five hours per week shall be considered
a part-time employee and subject to the above formula.

(c) Credited service for period of service in the
Armed Forces of the United States. A member who enters
the Armed Forces of the United States and does not
withdraw member contributions and interest will receive
credited future service for this period of military
service if:

(1)    the member does not remain in the Armed
Forces for more than one enlistment or a compulsory tour
of duty;

(2)     the member returns to a qualified
position within ninety days after discharge under
honorable conditions and submitted proof of service;

(3)    the participating agency from which a
member enters the military service shall be responsible
for paying on a current basis the monies necessary to
purchase retirement service credit while the member is in
the military service even though the member may return to
another participating agency after completion of military
service.

(4)   Any member whose military obligation to
the United States has been completed and who is granted
authorized leave without pay for the purpose of
voluntarily serving in the Armed Forces of the United
States shall have the opportunity to obtain credited
service for the period of authorized leave not in excess
of one year. Before receiving credited service, the
member shall pay both member contributions and the
County's contribution on a current basis during the
period of leave without pay.
