(2)   Credited past service is service credited
under the Employees' Retirement System of the State of
Maryland or the Montgomery County Police Relief and
Retirement Fund Law, A member will not receive credited
past service unless an election to transfer to this
Retirement System was filed on or before December 31,
1966. Any member who had membership in the Police Relief
and Retirement Fund of Montgomery County, and upon
discontinuance of coverage prior to August 15, 1955 was
unable to receive the return of member contributions,
shall receive credit for service covered by such
contributions.

(3)    Credited past service for service as a
fire alarm dispatcher or firefighter in Montgomery
County. Any member shall have the opportunity to obtain
credit for any period of full—time paid service as a fire
alarm dispatcher or firefighter in a Montgomery County
fire department (including the Takoma Park Fire
Department) or as a rescue squadsman in a Montgomery
County rescue squad if such service has not otherwise
been credited. Before receiving this credited service
the member shall pay the amount of contributions that
would have been deducted during this period of prior
service plus interest at the rate of four and one—half
percent per annum to June 30, 1970, and six and one—half
percent thereafter for each year from July 1, 1970, to
date of full payment.

A fire alarm dispatcher who was the incumbent of a
fire alarm dispatcher position brought into the County
service prior to August 15, 1965, shall receive credit
without additional charge, for the full period of time
serviced in the position or as a firefighter in the same
fire department, if the service was continuous.

(b) Procedures for determining credited future
service. The County Personnel Board will determine how
much service in a twelve month period constitutes one
year of credited future service, except:

(1)   in no case will more than one year of
credited future service be allowed for any twelve month
fiscal year period;

(2)    for members, with the exception of
elected or appointed officials, service rendered during
the full normal working time in a twelve month period,
including paid authorized leave or other leave
specifically provided herein, or in the Personnel
Regulations, will equal one year of credited future
service;

(3) for members holding elected or appointed
