MONTGOMERY COUNTY

Group B: Any correctional officer, fire
prevention officer or deputy sheriff, appointed or
promoted to the position on or before October 1, 1971,
irrespective of age, or if appointed to the position
thereafter, before attaining age forty. Any correctional
officer, fire prevention officer or deputy sheriff who is
a Group A member as of October 1, 1972, may elect to
retain membership therein.

Group C: Any member of Groups 8, D, or E who
is no longer able to perform assigned duties as the
result of a Service Connected disability and who
transfers to another position normally covered under
Group A.

Group D: Any full—time police officer

appointed on or before August 15, 1965 who has been

continuously employed as a police officer and has not

elected to transfer to any other membership group.

Group E: The Director of the Council Staff,
the County Attorney, and each head of a principal
department, officer or agency of the County Government,
appointed or promoted to, or having held such position on
or before October 1, 1972, and if appointed to such
position thereafter, before attaining age thirty. Any
police officer, firefighter, rescue squadsman or public
safety cadet appointed on or after August 15, 1965,
before attaining the age of thirty, or who was eligible
and elected to transfer from another membership group on
or after July 1, 1970. Any Group E member who has
reached elective early retirement date may retain
membership in Group E in the event of transfer from the
position which qualified the member for Group E.

Group F: Any full—time employee assigned to
Medical Group IV shall be a Group F member. Any
qualified part—time employee assigned to Medical Group IV
shall be eligible, on an individual option basis, to
become a Group F member. A Group F member is not
eligible for disability retirement benefits except if
incapacitated for the performance of duty as the result
of an injury.

(m) Entrance age for employees entering the County
service during the period of August 15, 1965 through
March 31, 1974. Any employee entering the service of the
County or participating agency during the period of
August 15, 1965 through March 31, 1974, who would have
qualified to become a member of this Retirement System,
except for the entrance age requirement, shall be
eligible to retroactively become a member as of the date
of employment. Before receiving credit retroactively for
this service, the member shall be required to pay the
