COUNTY LOCAL LAWS
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED BY THE COUNTY
COUNCIL OF HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND, that Section 3.615 of
the Howard County Code, Title 3, "Inspections, Licenses
and Permits," "Building" Subtitle "Signs" is hereby
repealed and [Stricken as follows:
3.615 Standards
In the event any Zoning Regulation of Howard County
or other applicable law contains a higher standard of
compliance than the terms of this Act, then such higher
standard shall prevail]. RE-ENACTED TO READ AS FOLLOWS:
3.615. HISTORIC DISTRICTS.
WHENEVER AN APPLICATION FOR A SIGN PERMIT IS FILED
UNDER THESE REGULATIONS FOR THE ERECTION OF A SIGN IN ANY
AREA OF HOWARD COUNTY CLASSIFIED AS AN "HISTORIC
DISTRICT," THE APPLICATION SHALL BE SUBJECT TO THE
APPROVAL OF THE HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION AS WELL AS
THE REQUIRED APPROVAL OF THE DEPARTMENT OF LICENSES,
INSPECTIONS AND PERMITS.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED BY THE COUNTY
COUNCIL OF HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND, that this Act shall
take effect sixty (60) days after its enactment.

AN ACT to repeal and re—enact with amendments Section
16.202, "Purpose," of Subtitle 2, "Zoning," to Title
16, "Planning, Zoning and Subdivision Control," of
the Howard County Code to provide that the Zoning
Board of Howard County shall have no power or
authority to regulate signs.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF
HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND, that Section 16.202 of the
Howard County Code, Title 16, "Planning, Zoning and
Subdivision Control," be and is hereby amended to read as
follows:
