HOWARD COUNTY

Section 16.202—Purpose.

A. For the purpose of promoting the health, safety,
morals and general welfare of Howard County, the Zoning
Board is hereby empowered to regulate and restrict the
height, number of stories and size of buildings and other
structures; the percentage of lot area that may be
occupied; the size of yards, courts and other open
spaces; the density of population and the location and
use of buildings, structures and land for trade,
industry, residence or other purposes, PROVIDED, HOWEVER,
THAT NOTHING IN THIS SECTION SHALL BE CONSTRUED SO AS TO
GIVE THE ZONING BOARD OF HOWARD COUNTY ANY AUTHORITY TO
REGULATE SIGNS, THAT AUTHORITY BEING RESERVED UNTO THE
HOWARD COUNTY COUNCIL.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED BY THE COUNTY
COUNCIL OF HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND, that this Act shall
take effect sixty (60) days after enactment.

Council Bill No. 55

AN ACT to enact a new Subtitle 6 to Title 20 of the
Howard County Code entitled "Collecting Agents" for
the purpose of establishing banks, trust companies
and other financial institutions to act as
collecting agents of the Director of Finance for
State and County taxes, Metropolitan District taxes
and assessments, and water and sewer user charges.

WHEREAS, Section 405 of the Howard County Charter
authorizes the Director of Finance to collect State and
County Taxes, special assessments, Metropolitan District
charges, fees and other revenues and funds of every kind
due to the County; and

WHEREAS, it would be in the best public interest and
convenience to authorize qualified financial institutions
to act as collecting agents of the Director of Finance of
Howard County.

SECTION 1. BE IN ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF
HOWARD COUNTY, MARYLAND, that a new Subtitle 6 of Title
20 of the Howard County Code entitled "Collecting Agents"
is hereby created, to read as follows:
