ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY

Bill No. 78-74

AN ORDINANCE to repeal and re—enact, with
amendments, Section 1—278 of the Anne Arundel County Code
(1967 Edition and Supplements) , Title 1,
"Administration", Subtitle 2, "Personnel", Article V,
"Appointed and Elected Officials' Retirement Plan", to
decrease the contributions of participants to the funding
of the Appointed and Elected Officials' Retirement Plan.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE COUNTY COUNCIL OF
ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MARYLAND, That Section 1-278 of the
Anne Arundel County Code (1967 Edition and Supplements),
Title 1, "Administration", Subtitle 2, "Personnel",
Article V, "Appointed and Elected Officials' Retirement
Plan", be, and it is hereby repealed and re-enacted, with
amendments, to read as follows:

Section 1—278. Funding.

[(a)] The benefits available to participants other
than retired employees shall be funded under a group
annuity contract issued by the insurance company. The
assets under such contract are herein referred to as the
pension fund, and all contributions made hereunder shall
be paid to such fund. Each participant shall contribute
[five] FOUR per cent [5%] 4% of his basic compensation
through payroll deductions in each calendar year or
portion thereof while covered hereunder; provided that no
contributions shall be made in any calendar year after
the participant has completed the required service for
the maximum pension benefits set forth in Section 1—264
(a).

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this
Ordinance shall take effect forty—five (45) days from the
date it becomes law.
