MUNICIPAL CHARTERS

Corporate boundaries, and more particularly subsection
(a) thereof, by substituting a new subparagraph (ft) for
the present subparagraph (ft), and changing the present
subparagraph (ft) to subparagraph (5).

WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 19(c) of Article
23A of the Annotated Code of Maryland (19 57 Edition) at
least 25 percent or more of the registered voters in
county elections who reside in the hereinafter described
area to be annexed, and the owners of at least 25 percent
of the assessed valuation in the said area have properly
petitioned the Board of Commissioners of the Town of
Rising Sun to annex said area into the corporate
boundaries of the Town of Rising Sun; and

WHEREAS, upon presentation of the petition to the
Board of Commissioners of the Town of Rising Sun, the
presiding officer thereof caused to be made a
verification of the signatures thereon and ascertained
that the persons signing the said petition were at least
2 5 percent of the registered voters for county elections
who reside in the hereinafter described area to be
annexed; and

WHEREAS, upon presentation of the petition to the
Board of Commissioners of the Town of Rising Sun, the
presiding officer thereof caused to be made a
verification of the signatures thereon and ascertained
that the persons signing the said petition owned at least
2 5 percent or more of the assessed valuation of the real
property located in the area to be annexed; and

WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners, upon proper
verification of the requirements of the law as
hereinabove set forth, have caused this resolution to be
introduced, proposing the change of boundaries as
requested in the said petition; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Commissioners
of Rising Sun, that Section 31—9 of the Charter of Rising
Sun, entitled Corporate boundaries, subsection (a)
thereof, be and is hereby amended by substituting a new
subparagraph (ft) for the present subparagraph (ft) and
changing the present subparagraph (ft) to be new
subparagraph (5), to read as follows:

(ft) BEGINNING FOR THE SAME AT A STONE ON THE
NORTHERLY SIDE OF MARYLAND ROUTE 273, SAID STONE BEING
LOCATED AT THE END OF THE SOUTH 58 DEGREE EAST, 1557 FOOT
LINE OF THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE TOWN OF RISING SON AS
SET FORTH IN SUBPARAGRAPH (1) ABOVE, AND RUNNING THENCE
FROM SAID POINT OF BEGINNING AND WITH SAID LINE REVERSED,
AS NOW SURVEYED, NORTH 5ft DEGREES, 30 MINUTES, 1ft SECONDS
WEST, 715.81 FEET TO A POINT ON THE SOUTHWESTERLY LINE OF
