RESOLUTION NO. 2-74

A Resolution to amend the Charter of the Town of
Myersville to change Section 19 (Voters) as amended by
Resolution 1—72 by repealing said Section 19 (Voters) and
replacing in lieu thereof a new Section 19 (Voters).

SECTION I: BE IT RESOLVED, ENACTED AND ORDAINED by
the Mayor and Council of the Town of Myersville pursuant
to Article XI—E, Municipal Corporations of the
Constitution of Maryland, that Section 19 (Voters),
Charter of the Town of Myersville, 1963, as amended by
Resolution 1—72, be amended by deleting the present
Section 19 (Voters), which is as follows:

[19. (Voters)

Every person who (a) is a citizen of the United
States, (b) is at least eighteen years of age, (c) has
resided within the corporate limits of the Town for one
year next preceding any Town election, and (d) is
registered in accordance with the provision of this
Charter, shall be a qualified voter of the Town. Every
qualified voter of the Town shall be entitled to vote at
any or all Town elections.]

SECTION II: BE IT RESOLVED, ENACTED AND ORDAINED by
the Mayor and Council of the Town of Myersville that a
new Section 19 (Voters) be incorporated into the Charter
of the Town of Myersville to read as follows:

19. (VOTERS)

EVERY PERSON WHO (1) IS A CITIZEN OF THE UNITED
STATES, (2) IS AT LEAST EIGHTEEN YEARS OF AGE, (3) HAS
RESIDED IN THE STATE OF MARYLAND FOR AT LEAST ONE YEAR
NEXT PRECEDING ANY TOWN ELECTION, (4) HAS RESIDED WITHIN
THE CORPORATE LIMITS OF THE TOWN FOR SIX MONTHS NEXT
PRECEDING ANY TOWN ELECTION, AND (5) IS REGISTERED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE PROVISIONS OF THIS CHARTER, IS A
QUALIFIED VOTER OF THE TOWN. EVERY QUALIFIED VOTER OF
THE TOWN IS ENTITLED TO VOTE AT ALL TOWN ELECTIONS.

SECTION III: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the date
of passage of this Resolution shall be March 21, 1974,
and the amendment to the Charter of the Town of
Myersville, hereby enacted shall become effective on May
10, 1974, unless a proper Petition for a Referendum
herein shall be filed as provided by Section 13 of
Article 23—A of the Annotated Code of Maryland, as
amended, and provided that a complete and exact copy of
this Resolution shall be continuously posted at the Town
Hall, Myersville, Maryland until May 10, 1974 and
provided further that a fair summary of the proposed
