MUNICIPAL CHARTERS

The Mayor and Councilmen shall have resided in the
Town for at least one year immediately preceding their
election and shall be qualified voters and property
owners in the Town.]

SECTION II:                  BE IT RESOLVED, ENACTED AND

ORDAINED, by the Mayor and Council of the Town of
Myersville that a new Section 4 (Qualification of Members
of the Council.) be incorporated into the Charter of the
Town of Myersville to read as follows:

"4. (QUALIFICATIONS OF MEMBERS OF THE COUNCIL.)

THE MAYOR AND COUNCILMEN SHALL BE RESIDENTS OF THE
TOWN AND SHALL BE REGISTERED TO VOTE IN THE TOWN
ELECTIONS."

SECTION III: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the date
of passage of this Resolution shall be March 21, 1974,
and the amendment to the Charter of the Town of
Myersville, hereby enacted shall become effective on May
10, 1974 unless a proper Petition for a Referendum herein
shall be filed as provided by Section 13 of Article 23—A
of the Annotated Code of Maryland, as amended, and
provided that a complete and exact copy of this
Resolution shall be continuously posted at the Town Hall,
Myersville, Maryland until May 10, 1974 and provided
farther that a fair summary of the proposed amendment
shall be published in the News—Post, a newspaper of
general circulation in the Town of Myersville, Frederick
County, Maryland, once in each of the weeks of March 25,
April 1, April 8 and April 15, 1974; and all Sections of
the Charter or Ordinances or parts of the Sections of the
Charter or Ordinances inconsistent with the provisions of
this Resolution be and the same are hereby repealed to
the extent of such inconsistency.

SECTION IV: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, ENACTED AND
ORDAINED, that the Mayor of the Town of Myersville shall
send separately by registered mail to the Secretary of
the State of Maryland and of the Department of
Legislative Reference the complete text hereof, the date
of Referendum election, if any; the number of votes cast
for and against the question containing the Charter
amendment, whether in the legislative body or in a
referendum and effective date of the Charter amendment.
