property in charge or possession.] It shall be the duty
of a person who disposes of [such] property, and of the
person who purchases or acquires the same, to see that a
transfer is made on the assessment books of the city, and
no one shall be entitled to a notice for taxes, due and
in arrear, on property which is not charged to such a
person.
[305. Collection of delinquent taxes.
On the first day of July following any levy, all
unpaid taxes will be considered as due and in arrears,
but no interest shall be charged on any tax account if
the same be paid on or before September 30th next
following any levy in the settlement of any tax account,
after that date interest at the rate of 6% per annum
shall be charged from the preceding first day of July to
the date of payment and the amount of said interest shall
be added to and made part of said taxes. All taxes not
paid and in arrears after the first day of the following
January shall be collected as provided in Section 306.]
[306. Tax sales.
A list of all property on which the town taxes have
not been paid and which are in arrears art provided by
Section 305 of this Charter shall be turned over by the
Clerk—Treasurer to the official of the county responsible
for the sale of tax delinquent property as provided in
State law. All property listed thereon shall, if
necessary, be sold for taxes by this county official, in
the manner prescribed by State law.]
[[307. Audits.
The financial books and accounts of the town shall
be audited annually as required by Section 40 of Article
19 of the Annotated Code of Maryland (1957 Edition, as
amended,).]]
309. Bailiffs; appointment, duties.
The said Mayor and Council of Hurlock shall annually
[appoint] HIRE a [bailiff] POLICE OFFICER and may also
[appoint] HIRE under [bailiffs] POLICE OFFICERS as from
time to time may be necessary to preserve the good order
of the town. The said [bailiff] POLICE OFFICER shall
execute all orders of the said Mayor and Council of
Hurlock, and shall perform such duties as the Mayor and
Council may assign to him; he shall account for and pay
over unto the clerk all moneys collected, or received by
him, if any there be as such [bailiff] POLICE OFFICER; he
shall preserve the peace and good order of the town, may
make arrests and serve warrants and other legal process
