HURLOCK

per diem for each regular meeting of the Mayor and
Council of Hurlock attended, but shall receive no
compensation for his attendance at any special sitting.

296. Voters; qualifications.

All inhabitants of said town over the age of
[twenty—one] EIGHTEEN years who have resided within the
corporate limits of Hurlock six months immediately before
the holding of any such election[, and all citizens of
Dorchester County over twenty—one years of age who own
for twelve months next preceding such election lands
assessed for at least one thousand dollars within said
limits shall be] ARE entitled to vote at any town
election.

298. Fiscal year for streets.

The year for ordering and repairing the streets,
lanes, alleys and thoroughfares of said town shall be
reckoned [from] BEGINNING WITH the first Monday of
January[, inclusive] in one year AND ENDING IMMEDIATELY
PRIOR to the first Monday of January [, inclusive,] in
the next year.

[299. Payment by County Commissioners.

The County Commissioners of Dorchester County, in

each and every year after May 12, 1942, shall pay to the
Mayor and Council of Hurlock fifteen hundred dollars

($1,500.00), to be used and applied by said Mayor and

Council of Hurlock in repairing and maintenance of the

streets of said town of Hurlock; provided, that all

payments heretofore made by the County Commissioners of

Dorchester County to the Commissioners of Hurlock for the

corporate purposes of said town shall be and the same are
hereby ratified and confirmed.]

[300. Data for annual levy.

In each and every year following the election, as
provided by section 285 herein, the annual levy shall be
made between the first and fifteenth days of January. ]

302. Taxes to be lien; transfer on assessment books.

[The real and leasehold property charged in the
assessment books of the city to any person shall be bound
for the taxes which may be levied on or against it, or on
account of said property, and for all taxes that may be
levied against said person and all such taxes shall be a
lien on said real and leasehold property and shall, as a
lien, have priority over all other adverse liens, claim,
rights, titles and interest, whosoever may have said
