least six months next preceding any Town election, (d) has
resided within the corporate limits of the Town for three
months next preceding any Town election, and (e) is
registered in accordance with the provisions of this
Charter, is a qualified voter of the Town. Every
qualified voter of the Town in entitled to vote at all
Town elections. Each qualified voter of the Town shall
be issued a voter identification card showing his name
and address with signature. In order to vote in any
municipal election, a qualified voter must present the
board of election judges his voters identification card
which shall be checked against registration records.
Voters of the Town who may have misplaced their
previously voter identification card may apply for
another during periodical registration periods.
20. B. (ABSENTEE TOTING) ANY QUALIFIED VOTER
REGISTERED TO VOTE IN THE ELECTIONS OF THE TOWN OF
GLENARDEN IS ENTITLED TO VOTE BY ABSENTEE BALLOT; THE
PROCEDURES AND PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 33, SECTION 27-1,
27-1 AND 27-4 THROUGH 27-11 OF THE ANNOTATED CODE OF
MARYLAND, AS AMENDED, ARE HEREBY INCORPORATED BY
REFERENCE, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THOSE TERMS REFERRING TO
"BALTIMORE CITY" OR "COUNTY: OR "STATE" OR AN AGENCY,
BOARD OR DEPARTMENT THEREOF SHALL BE CONSTRUED TO REFER
TO THE TOWN OF GLENARDEN OR ITS COUNTERPART AGENCY, BOARD
OR DEPARTMENT, AS THE CASE MAY BE.
Section 2. The date of the adoption of this
Resolution shall be the 8th day of April 1974 and this
Amendment to the Charter shall become effective on the
28th day of May 1974, unless a proper petition for a
referendum hereon shall be filed as permitted by law,
provided a complete and exact copy of this Resolution
shall be continuously posted on the Bulletin Board in the
Glenarden Municipal Hall until the 11th day of May 1974
and provided further that a copy of the Title and a
summary of this Resolution or a complete copy of this
Resolution be published in the Enquirer—Gazette or some
other newspaper of general circulation throughout Prince
George's County, Maryland once in each of the four weeks
beginning April 11, 1974.
Section 3. The Mayor is hereby specifically enjoined
to carry out the provisions hereof and as evidence of
such compliance, the Mayor shall cause to be affixed to
the minutes of this meeting an appropriate certificate of
publication of the newspaper in which the Title and
summary of this Resolution or a complete copy of this
Resolution were published and shall declare the amendment
hereby enacted to be effective by affixing his signature
hereto in the space provided for that purpose.
