BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Council of
Gaithersburg, in public meeting assembled, that:
1. Section 58 of the Charter is hereby amended to
read as follows:
The Mayor, with the approval of the Council,
may appoint a City Attorney[.l AND ONE OR MORE ASSISTANT
CITY ATTORNEYS, AIL OF WHOM shall be [a member of the bar
of] ADMITTED TO PRACTICE BY the Maryland Court of
Appeals. The City Attorney AND HIS ASSISTANTS shall be
the legal advisers of the City and shall perform such
duties in this connection as may be required by the
Council or the Mayor. [His] THEIR compensation shall be
determined by the Council. The City Attorney and HIS
ASSISTANTS SHALL BE SUBJECT TO REMOVAL BY A MAJORITY OF
THE COUNCIL AT ANY TIME WITHOUT CAUSE. The [City]
Council shall have the power to employ such legal
consultants as it deems necessary from time to time AND
TO FIX THEIR COMPENSATION.
2. Section 60 a.(2) is hereby amended to read as
follows:
(2) The City Manager, [and] the City
Attorney[.] , AND THE ASSISTANT CITY ATTORNEYS.

RESOLUTION NO. R-6-74
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ANNEXATION BY THE
CITY OF GAITHERSBURG OF APPROXIMATELY 16
ACRES, MORE OR LESS, LOCATED ADJACENT TO THE
PRESENT CORPORATE LIMITS, NEAR THE
INTERSECTION OF METROPOLITAN GROVE ROAD AND
THE BALTIMORE AND OHIO RAILROAD TRACKS.
WHEREAS the Mayor and City Council of Gaithersburg
wish to enlarge the corporate boundaries of the City of
Gaithersburg so as to include an additional area
encompassing approximately 16 acres of land located near
the intersection of Metropolitan Grove Road and the
Baltimore and Ohio Railroad tracks, and adjacent thereto;
and
WHEREAS, the signatures of consent have been
obtained from the owners of not less than twenty-five
