MUNICIPAL CHARTERS

Maryland and of Article 23A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland, including Section 13(f) of Article 23A, this
Resolution shall become and be considered a part of the
municipal charter of the Town of Church Creek upon the
fiftieth day after its passage unless on or before the
fortieth day of passage a petition is presented to the
Commissioners of Church Creek for a referendum thereon in
which event there shall be further proceedings as
required by Article 23A of the Annotated Code of
Maryland.

RESOLUTION 74-CR-1

A resolution to amend Article XI of the Charter
of the City of College Park, titled Powers of
Mayor and Council, to add a new Section 32 (a) to
confer upon the Mayor and Council the power to
grant and regulate franchises

WHEREAS, the City of College Park is desirous of assuring
that it has the power to grant and regulate
franchises,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Article XI of the
Charter of the City of College Park is hereby
amended to add a new Section 32(a) as follows:

ARTICLE XI Powers of Mayor and Council

§ 32(A). FRANCHISES

IN ADDITION TO, AND NOT IN LIMITATION OF,
THE POWERS OF THE MAYOR AND COUNCIL ENUMERATED
ELSEWHERE IN THIS CHARTER, THE MAYOR AND
COUNCIL SHALL HAVE THE POWER TO GRANT AND
REGULATE FRANCHISES TO WATER COMPANIES,
ELECTRIC COMPANIES, GAS COMPANIES, TELEGRAPH
AND TELEPHONE COMPANIES, TRANSIT COMPANIES,
TAXICAB COMPANIES AND TO CABLE TELEVISION
COMPANIES FOR THE USE OF THE STREETS AND ROADS
WITHIN THE MUNICIPAL BOUNDARIES AND TO RECEIVE
COMPENSATION AS ALLOWED BY LAW FOR SUCH USE,
AND TO GRANT AND REGULATE ANY OTHER FRANCHISE
WHICH MAY BE DEEMED ADVANTAGEOUS AND
