Senate Bill No. 1018 — Charles County; Education
Transportation Board

IN ACT concerning

Charles County — Education Transportation Board

FOR the purpose of requiring the establishment of an
appointed Education Transportation Board for Charles
County to determine which school children are
entitled to free transportation to and from school
due to hazardous conditions or individual hardships.

Dear Mr. President:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the
Maryland Constitution, I have today vetoed Senate Bill
1018.

This bill accomplishes for Charles County what
Senate Bill 1017 provided for St. Mary's County. It
creates a five member Education Transportation Board for
Charles County, to be composed in the same manner as the
Education Transportation Board for St. Mary's County, and
with the same function and powers.

My objections to this bill are precisely those set
forth in my Veto Message with respect to Senate Bill
1017; and, rather than prolong this Message
unnecessarily, I incorporate them herein by reference.
