RESOLVED, That copies of the Resolution be sent to
Louise Gore, chairwoman of the Maryland Bicentennial
Commission, 2525 Riva Road, Annapolis, Maryland 21401.

A House Joint Resolution concerning

Future Utilization of Tome Hill School

FOR the purpose of requesting the Maryland Council for
Higher Education to conduct a feasibility study to
determine the possible future utilization of the
Tome Hill School facility located in Cecil County as
a site for possible future post—secondary
educational programs for northeastern Maryland.

The Tome Hill School is situated on a 60 acre site
and contains many buildings including 5 classroom and
residence buildings and is adjacent to 80 acres of
recreational and athletic areas.

The site has always been used as an educational
institution, first as a private school prior to 1942 and
more recently as a preparatory school for the United
States Naval Academy.

This underutilized facility lies within close
proximity of rapidly growing economic and population
areas in northeastern Maryland.

The property is neighboring the Donaldson Brown
Center which is actively used by the University of
Maryland and could economically be used as a public
education center; now, therefore, be it further

RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
this Body requests the Maryland Council for Higher
Education to conduct a feasibility study to determine the
future use of the Tome Hill School facility for
educational programs in the area; and be it

RESOLVED, That the Council include representatives
