A House Joint Resolution concerning
Maryland Bicentennial Commission
FOR the purpose of commending the 24 volunteer County and
Baltimore City Bicentennial Chairmen and the more
than 800 volunteer members of the respective county
committees for their participation in and planning
for our Nation's 200th Birthday.
WHEREAS, The 24 County and Baltimore City
Bicentennial Committees are taking a full and active part
in formulating and carrying forth a comprehensive and
enduring statewide program for the commemoration of the
American Revolution; and
WHEREAS, These many volunteers have shown
resourcefulness and ingenuity to insure that appropriate
observances take place by including local public,
private, civic and other organizations; and
WHEREAS, Due consideration has been given to the
inclusion of Maryland's youth, women, elders, racial and
ethnic minorities, artists and craftsmen, and learned
professions; and
WHEREAS, A balanced program for the Bicentennial
Commemoration encompassing the themes of Heritage '76,
Festival USA and Horizons '76 is being achieved in
Maryland; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
the 24 volunteer County and Baltimore City Chairmen and
the more than 800 volunteer Bicentennial committee
members be saluted for their devotion to this cause,
which gives special emphasis to the ideas associated with
the Revolution, which have been so important in the
