A House Joint Resolution concerning
Bladensburg Marina
MC 11-75
FOR the purpose of establishing a Task Force to study the
disposition of the Bladensburg Marina.
WHEREAS, The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission
is presently the owner and operator of a marina and boat
basin on the Anacostia River near Bladensburg, Prince
George's County, Maryland and is responsible for the
maintenance of that facility; and
WHEREAS, The Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission
is desirous of transferring its responsibility for the
ownership and maintenance of the marina and boat basin;
and
WHEREAS, There has been considerable discussion
relating to the future use of the marina, including the
possibility of continuing the facility as a potential
park and recreation facility to serve residents of the
Maryland—Washington Metropolitan District; and
WHEREAS, The potential use of that facility has not
been determined, nor has the extent of the costs for
continuing the maintenance of the facility been
established, and the Montgomery County and Prince
George's County Delegations to the General Assembly are
desirous of ascertaining the potential use and cost of
the facility; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That a
committee be established, consisting of [[one member of
the Montgomery County House Delegation,]] one member of
the Prince George's County House Delegation, [[one member
of the Montgomery County Senatorial Delegation,]] one
member of the Prince George's County Senatorial
Delegation, each of whom shall be appointed by the
chairmen of the respective Delegations, [[one member]] a
designee of the Montgomery County Council [[to be
appointed by the President of the Council]], one member
of the Prince George's County Council to be appointed by
the Chairman of the Council, the Montgomery County
Executive or his designated representative, the Prince
George's County Executive or his designated
representative, the Chairman of the Washington Suburban
Sanitary Commission and the Chairman of The
