A House Joint Resolution concerning
Local Codes — State Publication
FOR the purpose of requesting the 1975 Legislative
Council to undertake a study of the feasibility of
the State assuming responsibility for the
publication of the local Codes.
WHEREAS, Most of the counties have reissued their
codes of public local codes within the last decade, few
have supplemented them to date; and
WHEREAS, Some of the codes are published in one
format and some in other formats; and
WHEREAS, The number of charter counties and counties
with code home rule is increasing and therefore the
amount of locally enacted legislation is increasing; and
WHEREAS, The situation is very confusing for members
of the Bar and Bench and the general public and will
surely become worse; and
WHEREAS, The State is logically best able to restore
uniformity to this area which would be of great benefit
to all concerned; now, therefore, be it
RESOLVED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF MARYLAND, That
the 1975 Legislative Council undertake a study of the
feasibility of the State assuming responsibility for the
publication of local codes; and be it further
